Fork Terminals

Where an electrical connection needs to be made to a screw or stud terminal - on a junction block, a motor terminal, or a control panel connection - a fork terminal (also called a spade lug or U-lug) provides a quick, secure, and re-openable crimp connection without needing to fully unscrew the terminal fastener. At the DIY Hardware Store, fork terminals are available in the colour-coded wire gauges used in automotive, industrial, and control panel wiring applications.

The forked or U-shaped end of the terminal slips under a screw or nut from the front when the fastener is loosened, allowing the wire to be connected and disconnected without removing the screw entirely. This makes them the preferred terminal type for equipment that will require periodic maintenance or rewiring - a significant advantage over ring terminals in accessible, service-required terminal positions. Available in insulated versions with coloured PVC sleeves matching standard wire gauge coding: red, blue, and yellow sizes.
