Solder ring fittings - also known as Yorkshire fittings or integral ring fittings - are the pre-soldered copper pipe fittings that contain a ring of solder within the fitting body, eliminating the need for separately fed solder wire and producing a consistently good joint when correctly heated. At the DIY Hardware Store, our solder ring fittings cover the elbows, tees, straight couplings, and stop ends used in domestic copper pipe soldering for hot and cold water supply and central heating systems.
The solder ring fitting contains just the right amount of solder for the joint - when heat is applied with a blowtorch, the solder melts and flows by capillary action into the gap between the pipe and the fitting socket, creating a watertight, permanent joint. The ring of solder at the centre of the fitting socket melts and wicks around the full circumference, and a bright ring of solder visible at the socket mouth confirms a complete joint. The joint cannot be reopened once made without cutting the pipe.
Available in 15mm and 22mm sizes at the DIY Hardware Store in the connection types most commonly used in domestic plumbing.
