Sela washers and covers - also known as bonded sealing washers or EPDM-faced roofing washers - are the combined metal and rubber washers used under roofing screws and bolts to create a weatherproof seal at each fixing point in metal and profiled sheet roofing. At the DIY Hardware Store, our sela washers cover the roofing screw and washer combinations used in agricultural, industrial, and domestic outbuilding roofing installations.

A sela or bonded washer consists of a steel or aluminium outer disc with an EPDM rubber face bonded to the underside. As the roofing screw is tightened, the rubber face compresses against the roofing sheet surface, conforming to any surface irregularity and forming a watertight seal around the screw penetration. Without this seal, every fixing hole in a metal roof is a potential water ingress point - the sela washer eliminates this risk when correctly installed and not over-driven.
