Mortice Sashlocks

A mortice sashlock combines a spring latch (for everyday self-closing door operation) and a deadbolt (for security locking) in a single mortice case - the most common lock format for externally accessed timber doors in the UK. At the DIY Hardware Store, our mortice sashlocks cover the 3-lever and 5-lever (BS 3621 rated) versions used for front doors, back doors, and secondary access doors on residential and commercial properties.

The spring latch allows the door to close automatically and be opened by pressing the handle to retract the latch, making it suitable for everyday unkeyed entry on the handle while the deadbolt provides the security lock when the door is to be left unattended. The 5-lever version meets the security standard required by most UK insurers and is the recommended minimum for any externally accessible door. The 3-lever version is appropriate for internal or lower-security secondary doors.
