Collection: Shelf Supports

Shelf supports - also known as shelf pins or shelf studs - are the small pegs that locate into a grid of holes drilled in the inner faces of a cabinet carcass, supporting a shelf at the chosen height and allowing the shelf to be repositioned without tools. At the DIY Hardware Store, our shelf supports cover the stud-and-socket, push-in, and nail-in types used in kitchen units, wardrobe carcasses, bookcases, and all forms of adjustable shelving furniture.

The standard shelf pin system uses a 5mm diameter peg that locates into 5mm holes drilled at 32mm centres (the industry-standard furniture drilling pitch). The shelf simply rests on four pins - two at the front and two at the rear - and can be repositioned to any height by moving the pins to a different row of holes. No tools are required, making this the most practical approach to adjustable shelving in any cabinet.

Push-in and nail-in versions are used where the holes are not pre-drilled and a permanent shelf position is acceptable. The socket-and-stud version provides a more positive location that prevents the shelf from being lifted off accidentally. All available at the DIY Hardware Store in metal and plastic options.
