Collection: Padlocks

A padlock is the most flexible and portable security device available - it requires no permanent installation, can be moved between applications, and provides a robust physical barrier against unauthorised access on any fitting equipped with a hasp, staple, or padlock eye. At the DIY Hardware Store, our padlocks range covers the open and closed shackle types in the security grades most commonly used for sheds, garages, outbuildings, gates, storage containers, and general asset security.

Padlock security depends on three factors: the hardness and diameter of the shackle (which resists cutting), the quality of the lock mechanism (which resists picking and drilling), and the security of the hasp or staple the padlock is attached to (which must be at least as robust as the lock itself). Open shackle padlocks are the standard format for most applications; closed shackle (shrouded) padlocks protect the shackle from bolt cutter attack by minimising the exposed shackle length - the correct choice for higher-risk locations.

Available in brass, steel, and weatherproof laminated formats, in security grades from basic shed locking through to insurance-rated specifications at the DIY Hardware Store.
