Collection: Wing Nuts

A wing nut is the hand-tightened fastener with two flat projecting wings that allow tightening and loosening by finger pressure alone, without the need for a spanner or wrench. At the DIY Hardware Store, our wing nuts are available in the metric sizes used for frequently adjusted or removed connections in woodworking jigs, machinery guards, equipment panels, and any assembly that needs to be opened and closed regularly without tools.

Wing nuts are used wherever a nut needs to be adjusted or removed frequently and quickly - the large wing profile provides enough leverage for hand-tightening to a force adequate for most clamping and guarding applications. They're standard fittings on woodworking fence adjustments, machinery safety guard panels, camera and lighting equipment, and portable equipment assemblies. For connections that need to resist vibration or higher loads, a spanner-driven nut with a nyloc insert provides better retention.

Available in zinc-plated steel in metric thread sizes at the DIY Hardware Store, sold as singles for matching to specific bolt diameters.
