Parliament Hinges

The parliament hinge is a specialist hinge with a wide, H-shaped knuckle that projects significantly from the door face, allowing a door to swing fully open past 90 degrees and fold flat against the wall even when a deep architrave or skirting is present. Standard butt hinges allow a door to open to 90-95 degrees before the door edge contacts the architrave or door stop - adequate for most rooms, but limiting in deep-reveal applications, folding shutters, and any door where 180-degree opening is needed. The parliament hinge's wide knuckle projection moves the pivot point far enough from the door face that the door can swing to 180 degrees and lie completely flat against the wall, maximising the opening width and allowing free passage of furniture and equipment.
