Collection: Letterplates

The letterplate is one of the most visible fittings on any front door - and a good one makes a significant contribution to kerb appeal as well as performing the practical function of receiving post securely and preventing draughts. At the DIY Hardware Store, our letterplates range covers the standard and mail manager formats used on timber, composite, and uPVC front doors in UK residential properties.

A standard letterplate consists of a front plate with a flap opening (the external face visible from the street) and a rear tidy or draught excluder fitting on the internal face, which also prevents mail from falling to the floor and provides a degree of draught and thermal insulation at the aperture. The mail manager letterplate incorporates an internal cage or tidy that holds incoming mail neatly, preventing it from being visible through the slot (a security consideration) and keeping the hallway floor clear.

Available in polished chrome, satin nickel, polished brass, antique brass, and black finishes to coordinate with the rest of the front door furniture. Sizes follow the standard UK BS EN 13724 specification for letter slot dimensions.
