Collection: Socket Setscrews

A socket setscrew - also known as a grub screw or Allen setscrew - is a headless screw with a hex socket recess at one end and a point, flat, or cup tip at the other, used to lock a shaft, key, or component in a specific position within a bore or housing without any protruding head above the surface. At the DIY Hardware Store, our socket setscrews are available alongside Allen key sets for the engineering, machinery, and general mechanical assembly applications where headless locking screws are the correct specification.

Setscrews are used to lock collars and hubs onto shafts, to fix pulleys and sprockets to drive shafts, to retain adjustment positions in mechanical sub-assemblies, and in any application where a screw needs to apply clamping force from within a bore without projecting above the surrounding surface. The cup-point tip is the most commonly used, as it bites into the shaft surface and resists rotation under load. Flat-point setscrews are used where the shaft surface must not be marked.

Available in zinc-plated steel and self-colour (black oxide) in metric thread sizes at the DIY Hardware Store, with matching Allen key short-arm sets for installation.
