Collection: Stainless Steel Woodscrews

When a woodscrew will be exposed to moisture, salt air, or the chemicals in certain hardwood species, a standard zinc-plated screw is simply not the right specification - it will corrode, stain the timber, and eventually fail. At the DIY Hardware Store, our stainless steel woodscrews cover the A2-grade pozi countersunk and slotted round head formats used in outdoor joinery, hardwood decking, marine timber work, and any application where corrosion resistance is a non-negotiable requirement.

A2 stainless steel (304 grade) provides excellent corrosion resistance in most outdoor environments and is the minimum specification for permanent exterior joinery and decking. For marine environments and any application involving salt water or chemical exposure, A4 (316 grade) stainless is the more durable specification. Stainless woodscrews are also essential when fixing into hardwood species such as oak, iroko, and sweet chestnut, which contain tannins that react chemically with zinc and iron to produce black staining around the fixing point.
