Collection: Upholstery Nails

Upholstery nails - also known as decorative nails, furniture tacks, or antique nails - are the dome-headed decorative fasteners used to secure and trim upholstered furniture with a visible line of nailheads that is part of the finished aesthetic of the piece. At the DIY Hardware Store, our upholstery nails are available in brass, antique brass, and chrome dome head formats for traditional and contemporary upholstery and soft furnishing projects.

Unlike gimp pins (which are driven through a decorative braid to conceal the fixing), upholstery nails are the visible fixing - driven directly through the fabric and leather at the fold line or edge, the dome head sits proud of the surface as a decorative detail. Spaced at regular intervals along the edge of a chair arm, sofa back, or headboard panel, they create the characteristic studded trim that defines many traditional and Chesterfield-style furniture pieces.

Available in brass, antique brass, and chrome finishes at the DIY Hardware Store, in packs for upholstery projects of different scales. A tack hammer is the recommended tool for installation - a standard hammer is too heavy and risks denting the dome.
