Garage Door Bolts

A garage door bolt secures a garage door in the closed position against unauthorised opening, providing a robust physical security measure at ground level where the door meets the floor or threshold. The most common type for a double garage door is the cane bolt (also called a monkey tail bolt), a long rod bolt that passes through guides on the door face and drops into a socket in the floor, locking the inactive leaf of a double door in place before the latch or lock on the active leaf is engaged. Without a floor bolt on the inactive leaf, that door can be forced open at the base even with the lock engaged. For single doors, heavy-duty barrel bolts and tower bolts are available for top and bottom security.
