Collection: Wire Rope Clamps

A wire rope clamp - also known as a bulldog grip or wire rope clip - is the U-bolt and saddle fastening used to create a termination or join in a wire rope assembly without splicing, providing a removable, adjustable, and strong mechanical end connection. At the DIY Hardware Store, our wire rope clamps cover the standard U-bolt saddle type used in domestic rigging, gate stays, wire training systems, and load securing applications.

A wire rope clamp is installed by folding the rope back on itself to create a loop (for an eye termination) or by overlapping two rope ends (for a join), inserting the rope through the clamp U-bolt, and tightening the saddle nuts to the specified torque. The saddle presses down on the live rope (the load-bearing part) while the U-bolt bears against the dead end (the tail) - this is critical: fitting the clamp the wrong way around with the U-bolt on the live rope significantly reduces the connection's load capacity.

Available in galvanised steel at the DIY Hardware Store in sizes matched to 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm wire rope diameters.
