Gate Wheel Castors

A large driveway gate can weigh anything from 50kg to several hundred kilograms - and supporting that weight on two hinges alone places enormous stress on the hinge fittings, the gate structure, and the posts. A gate wheel castor provides a rolling support point at the free end of the gate, taking the majority of the weight and allowing the gate to swing with minimal effort regardless of its size. Gate wheel castors mount to the bottom rail of the gate near the free end, with a rubber or polyurethane wheel that rolls across the drive surface as the gate swings. This dramatically reduces the bending load on the hinges, prevents the gate from dragging and damaging the ground surface, and makes opening and closing a large gate possible for a single person without significant effort.
