Collection: Handrail Brackets

A well-secured handrail is a legal requirement on most staircases and a practical necessity wherever level changes create a fall risk. At the DIY Hardware Store, our handrail brackets cover the standard and adjustable types used for wall-mounted handrails in domestic and commercial staircase installations.

Fixed-projection brackets are available in standard reach depths for the most common handrail profiles and wall clearance requirements. Adjustable-angle brackets allow the rail to be set at a precise angle relative to the wall - critical on raking staircases where a fixed-angle bracket can't be set correctly without additional shimming or scribing. Building Regulations Part K requires handrails on domestic staircases to be between 900mm and 1000mm above the pitch line of the stairs. Brackets should be fixed at no more than 1200mm centres for most rail sections, and must be fixed into solid wall material to provide the required structural support.
