Collection: Rivets

Rivets are the one-sided fastener that allows two or more layers of material to be permanently joined from a single-access side - no need for access to the back of the joint to hold a nut. At the DIY Hardware Store, our rivets range covers the pop rivets (blind rivets) used with a standard rivet gun for joining sheet metal, plastic, leather, canvas, and composite materials in automotive, construction, and general fabrication applications.

A pop rivet is installed by inserting the rivet body into a drilled hole through both materials, placing the rivet gun over the mandrel, and squeezing the handles. The gun pulls the mandrel through the rivet body, causing the tail end to expand against the blind face of the joint. The mandrel then snaps off at the break point, leaving a flush or domed head on the access side and a deformed tail locking the materials together on the blind side.

Available in aluminium (the most common general-purpose rivet), steel, and stainless steel, in the diameter and grip-length combinations most commonly used for sheet metal and fabrication work at the DIY Hardware Store. A standard pop rivet gun is required for installation.
