Collection: Cut Steel Tacks

The cut steel tack is one of the oldest fasteners in the upholsterer's toolkit, and it remains the traditional choice for attaching fabric, webbing, and carpet underlay to timber frames. At the DIY Hardware Store, our cut steel tacks are available in the sizes used for upholstery work, carpet fitting, and the attachment of light materials to timber where a small, wide-headed fixing is needed.

Cut from flat steel strip, tacks have a broad, flat head and a sharp, tapered point that drives cleanly through fabric and into timber without tearing the weave. They hold fabric securely at the fold line and create the surface against which the material is pulled taut during upholstery work. They're also used for fixing carpet gripper rods, attaching webbing to chair frames, and securing felt and hessian to backing boards.
