A tee plate is a flat T-shaped metal reinforcement fitting used to strengthen T-junction timber joints and panel connections - the flat-plate equivalent of an angle bracket for right-angle in-plane joints where two pieces of timber meet at a T rather than a corner. At the DIY Hardware Store, our tee plates provide the simple, screw-fixed reinforcement used in light framing, furniture repair, and general joinery where a T-junction joint needs mechanical backing.
Tee plates are used in applications such as reinforcing the junction between a shelf and a supporting rail, strengthening the T-joint at the centre of a flat frame where a cross-member joins the main frame rail, and providing additional mechanical strength across a butt joint where two boards meet end-to-surface in a flat panel. They require no specialist skills to fit - simply centre the plate over the joint and drive screws through the pre-drilled fixing holes into both timber members.
Available in zinc-plated steel at the DIY Hardware Store in standard sizes for light joinery and furniture repair applications.
