Straining Eyebolts

A straining eyebolt is a tensioning device that creates an adjustable, load-bearing eye fixing in masonry, concrete, or steel structures - used to tension wire, cable, and rope systems to the correct working tension after installation. At the DIY Hardware Store, our straining eyebolts cover the screw-in and bolt-through formats used for clothesline tensioning, wire training systems on walls, fence straining, and general wire and cable tensioning applications.

The straining eyebolt incorporates a threaded tensioning mechanism that allows the length of the fitting to be adjusted after installation - turning the body extends or retracts the eye relative to the fixing point, increasing or decreasing the tension in the wire or cable attached to it. This allows a wire system to be tensioned correctly after all components are installed, and to be re-tensioned over time as the wire settles or stretches in service.
