A worn washer is one of the most common causes of a dripping tap - and replacing it is one of the most basic plumbing repairs any homeowner can carry out. Tap washers are the rubber discs that seat against the tap valve seat to control water flow - when they wear, the tap drips. Standard 1/2" and 3/4" tap washers cover most domestic tap repairs. Washing machine hose washers seal the threaded connection between inlet hoses and tap fittings, and are frequently the cause of leaks at washing machine and dishwasher connections.
